The most mass-produced motor vehicle in history. And I finally got to drive an almost-new one!
A local powersports dealer had this 2019 Super Cub with just 80 miles on the clock, traded in by a guy who bought it and apparently decided very quickly that it wasn’t what he wanted, so he traded it toward a bigger, more powerful cruiser bike.
This thing is such a hoot. It’s so light with a center of gravity so low, it feels like a bicycle. I absolutely adore the aesthetics, between the underbone chassis, the fully-encased chain drive, stylish alloy/tubeless wheels, and the cigar-shaped muffler, it’s just the perfect blend of modern, classic, and elegant.
Not a lot of power, even with the updated 125cc fuel-injected but still air-cooled single cyl engine. It puts out around 8 horsepower. Enough to get up to 60 mph on a flat stretch, but it’s more comfortable at 45-50. Up steep grades don’t expect to maintain much over 35. And it gets friggin 130 real-world miles
per gallon!
I
t’s also
just the perfect size that an American-sized guy
like me at 6'2" and 200 lbs doesn’t feel cramped on it, yet it’s still small enough to fit just about anywhere a bicycle would. And no clutch lever means it’s ideal for beginner motorcyclists who are intimidated by shifting and clutching in traffic.

I was pretty salty when they introduced the Monkey a year after I bought my Ruckus. I can use a little more oomph in the 49cc motor.

A local power sports dealer, eh? I suppose that means it’s local to me too.
I love the Super Cub and could definitely see myself on one in a few years depending on how things go with the scooter.

Yeah, Scott Powersports in Coopersburg. I was tempted to buy it but decided against it because they’re asking new MSRP minus $100 for it, which, while it’s basically new, just isn’t enough of a discount for me to bite.

I figured it was either there or at Blackmans. I’m pretty sure my brother bought his ZX-10r in Coopersburg from those guys.
I wasn't trying to make that kind of investment on my first 2 wheeled vehicle. The scooter was more in my price range.

I REALLY wish they sold these here in Canada, but sadly they don’t! I’m a scooter guy more than a bike guy, so I adore the Super Cub and the new reincarnation seems to be really well done!

Anything preventing you from buying one in the States and importing to Canada?
EDIT:
https://www.tc.gc.ca/motorvehiclesafety/SafeVehicles/Importation/Usa/VAFUS/list2/HONDA_8_0.htm
Says all Honda models are admissible for import, so I think it’s doable.

I really want one too. I might consider getting one after the bmw is paid off. They seem like a decent value brand new, a trade in like this must be a deal.

Sadly it is not, because new ones are selling like hot cakes around here. Neither of the two local powersports dealers have ANY new Super Cubs, so this one is listed at $3499 or just $100 less than new MSRP. That’s one of the reasons I didn’t buy it.
If it was 3k, I’d probably have done it.

Hmm, does say so, yes....though I seem to think I researched it once and I seem to think it that it means ‘any vehicle sold both in the US and Canada’...where the Su
per Cub is not sold here, and only sold in the US, there’s a chance they wouldn’t let one in...
But that page you found does seem to imply it could be allowed in! Maybe I should look into that! :D

Cool! I want to try riding one of those . I scored a deal on the Vespa I bought for my wife, because the guy was selling it to make room for the Super Cub he had ordered.
